IPVanish is a premium VPN provider that offers three attractively priced plans.  Despite their VPN service being relatively new, they have over 15 years of years of Internet experience. Currently, IP Vanish has 137+ servers in 63 countries with eye on expansion.  They also boast more than 14,000 IP addresses. The number of available IP addresses was recently doubled to account for the tremendous growth the service has experienced over the last 3 years.

IPVanish’s monthly plan costs $10. Users can also purchase a quarterly plan for $26.99 ($8.99 per month) or a yearly plan for $77.99 ($6.49 per month). The service can be used with OpenVPN, L2TP and PPTP protocols, making it easy to increase privacy and security no matter where you are. IPVanish works on several different operating systems and devices, including Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows XP, Mac OS X, iPhones, iPads, Android and Ubuntu.

Speed

Without a doubt IPVanish has some of the fastest and most robust servers in the industry. If you don’t believe me, I encourage you to watch this youtube video where the user reaches almost 200mbps connected through IPVanish. That is some serious speed. As with any VPN provider some servers will be better than others. If you aren’t happy with the speed you receive with a given server, try switching to a different option that suits your needs.

Pricing

ipvanish priicng

IPVanish offers a 7 day money back guarantee.  Not all VPN providers have such faith in their product. This is a testament to the quality IPVanish offers and the confidence they have in their service.  You can pay for service with a major credit card, PayPal, Worldpay, or Bitcoin. I do not recommend using a VPN service that does not accept Bitcoin. It is a good indicator that they both take privacy seriously and understand their customer base.

Torrent Policy

IPVanish does not block the use of torrents. While their service will likely shield you from being sued for downloading torrents, they don’t court the P2P crowd as much as services like PIA or BTGuard. When I am searching for a safe torrent service, I first read their logging policy and look to see if they accept Bitcoin. These latter two providers pass this test.

Customer Support

IPVanish has a great support team that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you have a problem from 9am to 5pm Eastern Standard Time, you can you live chat to resolve your problem. For issues outside of this time frame, you should email support@ipvanish.com. To expedite matters, you problem want to email them using the address linked to your account. In addition to live support, they also provide a searchable FAQ and community forum.

Software

IPVanish provides easy connection software for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. Tutorials are available for the software. My only complaint here is that the tutorials don’t have pictures. I’ve always found it easier to understand a setup process if the text is accompanied by images that match what I am seeing on my screen. They also provide tutorials on how to manually setup connections using Windows Phone, Chromebook, various routers, and my personal favorite – Ubuntu. When I installed the software on my Windows machine, it took about 10 seconds for the bar to start moving. I got a little worried, but it went fast after that. Once the software was installed, I was very pleased by the sleek appearance and ease of use.

Circumvent Censorship and Access Geographically Restricted Content

There are three main reasons most people want a VPN service: privacy, censorship, and geographically restricted content. IPVanish has an explicit no logging policy. This means they have you covered on the privacy front. That said, don’t try to bring down Sony or hack the FBI and think a layer of VPN masking is going to protect you. Censorship is my favorite reason to use a VPN service. Why? Because it is bullshit. Countries should not protect us from ourselves. The free flow of ideas leads to a better tomorrow. GeoIP is the most fun reason to use a VPN service. Before I made this site, I never realized how good the media content is in the United States compared to much of the world. Of course, we get cheated in some areas too. Don’t let your location keep you from accessing the content on Netflix, Spotify and Pandora that you deserve.

Proud Legacy

IPVanish is an offshoot service from a company named Highwinds. Highwinds is one of the largest content delivery and cloud storage networks on the Net. One of their more interesting companies is the now ancient but still interesting Usenet service. They run well known brands in this sector, including Newshosting and Usenetserver. They also create amazingly classy advertising by putting their brand in the form of a tramp stamp on a half naked woman. Come on, would your company let you do that? These folks must know how to have a good time. While your company might have a holiday potluck, they probably have Friday strip club and cognac team building events.

Seriously though, if you are interested in combining Usenet service with VPN service, you should look at Newshosting. They offer a plan that combines the two services for as little as $15.83 per month.

Conclusion

IPVanish provides some of the fastest and most reliable service in the VPN industry. Cheaper services exist, but the prices are not exorbitant by any stretch of the imagination. One of the best parts of the service is the fact that they are constantly improving. When I initially wrote this article, they had servers in fewer than forty countries. Now they have servers in more than sixty countries! I have confidence that IPVanish will maintain this astonishing level of rapid growth well into the future. Given that the service comes with a 7 day money back guarantee, you have little to lose and a lot to gain. I recommend giving them a try.

Been with them since they launched a few months ago. I’ve actually used the VPN a lot in both the US and Europe. Very fast VPN network and no monthly caps imposed. Hard to find a premium VPN provider for $10/mo.

Speeds Australia to USA were fair, around 7-9Mbps. Speeds Australia to Europe were abysmal, in fact about 3Mbps compared to 13Mbps from another VPN provider.

Cancelled service within 7 days, however ten (10) days later I’m STILL waiting on a refund.

Ok, I love the service and hyper-speeds that come with it, but I do have one complaint; Its too easy to use! With my other providers, there use to be so many issues and problems, that i think i actually started enjoying trying to solve them :)
